So you’re trying to drop a few pounds? Thats great! Now here is what you should NOT do contrary to popular belief.
Skip Breakfast
The morning dash to get shower, dressed and out the door usually results in you skipping the most important meal of the day. Bad move. The meal keeps your body’s metabolism stoked and burning strong throughout the day.
Light Weights, High Reps
While good for toning, this method doesn’t burn much fat at all. Increasing the weight accordingly allows your muscles to work harder and burn more calories — even after you leave the gym.
Slash Carbs
An active person can’t simply go without carbs. In fact, your body needs at least 100 grams a day for energy. Always remember to maintain a balance of carbs, protein and healthy fats in your diet. This gives you what you need in terms of energy, muscle growth and recovery.
Swear Off Your Favorite Foods
Anytime we want to drop few pounds, most of us immediately slash all comfort foods from our diets. The problem is you’ll eventually cave, and it won’t be pretty. So enjoy a treat once in a while — just remember that moderation is key.
Train, But Just Barely
Any degree of training is better than nothing at all. But you can only get out of something what you put in. Remember, losing weight isn’t just a matter of going to the gym once a week. It also involves lifestyle changes. Talk a walk on your lunch break, park on the opposite end of the parking lot at stores, and do more yard work (your girl will love the new you).
Postworkout Snack
People love to reward themselves for a hard day at the gym. But, remember, many granola and protein bars also packed with extra calories — don’t cancel out all the hard work you just put in at the gym.
Load Up On Diet Snacks
Another misconception in the diet arena. Baked chips and fat-free candy are still junk food. Train your body (and mind) to think of fresh fruit and vegetables as delicious snacks. After 30 days, you’ll be surprised at how you start to crave these nutritious foods.
Treadmill Marathons
When it comes to losing weight, people always put the emphasis on cardio. While running and biking is highly recommended, you still need to get in some strength training. Working those muscles is what really fires up the metabolism.

The economy is still a bit on the slow side and our pockets aren’t quite as deep as we’d like them to be. The car just broke down, but you don’t want to get a beater. Matter a fact… you want something with a bit of “oomph”. No problem, below is a compilation of the top 9 budget sports cars.
- Mazdaspeed3 – Base Price $23,945
- Volkswagen GTI – Base Price $23,664
- Honda Civic Si – Base Price $22,055
- Subaru WRX – Base Price $24,995
- Nissan 370Z – Base Price $29,930
- Dodge Challenger – Base Price $23,460
- Hyundai Genesis Coupe – Base Price $22,000
- Ford Mustang – Base Price $21,395
- Chevrolet Camaro – Base Price $22,680
My vote definitely goes to the Subaru WRX simply because of practicality with the 370Z following shortly after(almost no practicality).
All good things must come to an end, including the Windows 7 RC. Just remember that anyone using Windows 7 Release Candidate (build 7100) will start noticing their machines shutting down every two hours starting March 1, 2010. Of course, Microsoft will warn you prior to the shut down, but that doesn’t do you much good. The temporary license Microsoft has given you will all of a sudden become non-genuine and you’ll know when it happens. Your wallpaper will change to “This copy of Windows is not genuine”.
Apple has released a 294KB iMac Display firmware update to address the flickering issue on the 27 inch iMac. In order to install the update, you must have Mac OS X 10.6.2 or later, which shouldn’t be a problem for most. Let’s hope the second time is a charm, because the 27 inch iMac Graphics firmware update last December was a failure.

Sony Ericsson is bringing in the new year with a new smartphone, the Aspen. It also just happens to be the first official Windows Mobile 6.5.3 handheld that’s mass produced. The phone will have a 2.4″ QVGA touchscreen, full QWERTY, UMTS/HSDPA, 802.11 WiFi, Bluetooh, A-GPS, microSD slot, FM Radio(w RDS) and a 3.2MP camera.
The Aspen has a pretty nice form factor measuring in at 4.6 X 2.36 X .49 inches. For the tree huggers out there, the phone is made of easily recyclable materials, no manual is included and you get a pretty spiffy power saving mode. Yes…. you don’t get a manual, figure it out on your own… OR download the manual online.
Expect the phone to be out in a few weeks, no word on pricing yet.

According to a recently leaked slide, Lenovo might be releasing a few new models including the X201/X201S ultraportables, the W701 performance oriented workstation and the L400 and L500.
No ideas on the specs yet, but you can bet that the X201 is going to get CPU, solid state HDD and RAM bumps. The W701 will be getting a core i7 and the L400 and L500 will see a Core i5.
