Amazon Gets Nervous, Purchases Touch Screen Company

Let’s be real here….. The Kindle was a great little “toy” and it had a good run, but the JooJoo and iPad are clearly going to destroy it. However, Amazon is not going to give up that easy. They’ve just aquired a start up company that specializes in touch screens called Touchco. The company has developed an interpolating force sensitive resistance technology which can and WILL be used in  transparent and flexible touch screens.

Costing less than $10 a square foot, its relatively cheap. This may possibly give Amazon a second chance up against the new kids on the block. Word to the wise…. eBay your Kindles….fast.

Skype VoIP Calls Over 3G Coming To The iPhone

Skype has announced that they are currently in the works of creating an iPhone application that will allow you to make VOIP calls on the iPhone(over 3G). They haven’t released the app yet because they are trying to improve audio quality. I wouldn’t expect too much, especially since sending an SMS in NYC could fail several times over in a “Strong” 3G coverage spot.

Google is finally taking action on all the complaints that they’ve recieved on their NexusOne phone. Apparently, they will be pushing out an update that will correct the known 3G problem and add some multitouch support….notice how I said “SOME”. Once Google decides to upgrade your phone(they’re randomly picking people), you will get a message on your device’s notification bar. Download the update, install it and you’ll notice the following:

Hydrogen Fuel Cells…..For RC CARS! WOOOOT! Horizon H-Cell 2.0

Sure I’m a gas guzzling enthusiast, but I’m all about going green when it comes to R/C cars. Horizon’s H-Cell 2.0 hydrogen fuel system is a kit that will allow an RC car to run completely off Hydrogen. Friggen Awesome! The only issue is that Hydrogen is a HIGHLY combustible gas. I’m not too sure how the H-Cell works, but imagine running that RC car in to a wall? It’s practically a little bomb zipping around @ 60MPH.
The kit will be available in March and should in theory work with most hobby grade RC cars… I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks. I hope they drop in carbon footprint won’t sacrifice speed :)

  • Has the power to charge an iPhone four times
  • 4 yellow lights indicate power level, 25%-50%-75%-100%

The JooJoo Will Be Shipping This Month!

After the official introduction of the iPad, JooJoo pre-orders dramatically went up. Probably because the iPad is an oversized iPod Touch. I guess time and marketing will tell us what direction to go.

The JooJoo will begin shipping sometime this month and will have an “App Store” upon the launch. It will also have full support for Flash and Flash HD once Flash 10.1 is released. For those of you wondering, JooJoo means “magical” in African…. hopefully it will live up to it’s name because despite appearing to be superior on paper, Apple tends to have a few tricks up their sleeves as well.
