Feature Packed Phone With A Cigarette Lighter For Only $70

Cell phones are becoming more and more powerful by the day. You could unlock your doors, remote start your car, pay for your purchase, make reservations, take photos, and the list goes on and on. How about a lighter? Sure Why not?

The Machismo phone is a GSM tri bander that features dual SIM slots, a 2.5 inch display, bluetooth, 1.3MP camera, video recording, MP3/MP4 playback and a 2GB microSD card. It’s a pretty feature rich phone, but here is the kicker… you could light up your cigarettes with it! Turn the phone around, pop a latch open and the heating element will take two seconds before it’s ready to light up your cigarette.

Now for all the people that don’t smoke, you could easily use this to light up your fire crackers, de-ice your locks, destroy documents and warm your hands(be very careful here).

New Blackberry Internet Service 3.0 Leaks

I remember the good old blackberry gmail experience, which consisted of me having to create a filter to STOP the inbox from getting flooded with my sent messages. Then you occasionally had to manually mark your emails as read in gmail because the blackberry just couldn’t pull it off on its own.

Seems like those days will soon be over thanks to BIS 3.0. RIM has updated the BIS so that Gmail will now accurately sync the status of your email(read/unread). The update will also allow you to listen to Windows Media Audio attachments and Open Office files.

RIM is finally updating BIS so that Gmail will accurately sync read and unread status of your mail. It’s about time! Now it’s up to the different carriers to perform the upgrades on their ends before the customers can experience it.

IBM Breaks Records With A 100GHz Graphene Transistor

IBM has created a transistor using processing technologies compatible with current silicon device fabrication. Graphene can and WILL be utilized to produce high performance circuitry in the future. At the moment, high end silicon transistors top out at 40Ghz where a Graphene transister with the same gate length will easily reach 100Ghz.

For those of you that care, Graphene is a single atom-thick layer of carbon atoms bonded in a hexagonal honeycomb-like arrangement.

Google Buys Super Bowl Air Time

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! Everyone already knows who the 2010 Super Bowl advertisers are going to be…or did you? Turns out Google has decided to run their first ever Super Bowl commercial during  game XLIV. Apparently the ad will air sometime during the 3rd quarter and has already been published in the past named “Parisian Love”. The $2.8 million that they spent on the AD has probably paid for itself already.

Watch the commercial above.

Microsoft Zune HD Price Drops Around $20

For no apparent reason, Microsoft has decided to drop the pricing on their Zune HD’s across the board by $20. At the moment, you could walk in to just about any electronics store and pick up a 16GB version for $200 and the 32GB unit for $270. No clue as to why they dropped the price. Maybe they’re just being nice to us??? Highly doubt it…. I bet a 64GB version is well on it’s way :) .

Word has leaked on the street about the Motorola Devour. The latest and greatest Motorola Android handset will support Adobe Flash Lite (standalone and in browser) and will most likely run Android 1.6.  Expect the phone to run off a 600MHz Qualcomm chipset, have an 8GB SD card, 3MP camera and 23fps video capture. All the other stuff is pretty standard… WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Apple iBook G4 Reincarnated To A Grand Father Clock

Etsy has taken an aged Apple iBook G4 and turned it in to a Grand Father Clock… Very cool.  Unfortunately, the clock isn’t a “real” grandfather clock as it features a quartz movement so the mouse hanging off the bottom intended to be a pendulum is also intended just for show. The iBook Clock measures up at 14 inches (w) by 18 inches (l) and runs off 2 AA batteries. I am TOTALLY going to get one of these for my office. The clock will set you back $75.

Original XBOX Owners are SOL, No More Live Support For You

Microsoft has announced that they will discontinue XBOX Live service for the original XBOX console and games as of April 15 2010. They claim that this is for the greater good, but they will also in fact screw over XBOX 360 owners as well who still play their old games on their new consoles.

However, this change is necessary in order to “evolve the Live service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of XBOX 360 and the XBOX Live community”.

Social Networking Integrated With Mapping Software

There have been plenty of times you have arranged to meet up with friends at a common spot, but someone always ends up getting lost. You exchange texts, make many phone calls but eventually get so frustrated that you have to change the plans completely.

No problem, assuming a new patent application actually makes it to the App Store. Instead of trying to figure out exactly where someone is with verbal instructions (Oh, I’m right next to the deli standing in front of a white car), you can quickly and easily get the spot with a location sharing feature. Fire up the app, locate yourself and then email the location to your buddies who will be able to pull it up on a map. No more headaches!
