Apple Wants Their “Missing” iPhone 4G Back

For those of you that thought the mysterious iPhone 4G “leak” was just a publicity stunt… thank again. According to the well respected New York Times, Steve Jobs is trying really hard to cover up the tracks. The phone was found in a beer garden in California(of course!) which was left behind by an Apple Software Engineer. Someone picked the phone up and sold it to Gizmodo for $5000. Last night, Gizmodo got a letter from a Senior Apple VP requesting them to return the phone. Seems like Gizmodo is going to do the right deed. Oh well…. joke is still on you Apple. The cat’s out of the bag.

2011 BMW M5 Strip Tease… Wearing Nothing But Socks N Panties Now

The oh so highly anticipated 2011 BMW M5 is not ready for the streets yet, but it has been spotted with a bit more of a scantily clad disguise(unlike the original where you couldn’t tell if it was a Hyundai or a Land Rover). The vehicle is rumored to have a 578HP twin turbo V8. As you can see in the picture above… it looks like it’s going to be a sleeping monster…which we all love :) .

New Studies On Engine Volcanic Ash Sucking Capabilities

Scientists and engineers have been working around the clock trying to figure out this dreaded volcanic ash issue with aircraft.  If you don’t have any idea on what you’re talking about, it’s time you get back to your WoW game.

For the remotely informed, there have been many test flights and engine strip downs of engines flown through the cloud of volvantic ash caused by the recently erupted Eyjafjallajökull. After a mere 4 days of studying, these “experts” over at the UK Civil Aviation Authority have determined how much volcanic ash a jet engine can safely suck in. All I have to say is… if AIDS and other random diseases causes big businesses to lose over 100 million dollars a day, I’m pretty sure it would’ve been cured by now too. :)

iPhone Will Tell Your Doctors That You’re About To Croak With Proteus Raisin

If you’ve sent your parents or your in laws off to a nursing home and want to pretend that you care, you might want to look in to the Proteus Raisin. The device is a personal health monitoring system that interfaces with your iPhone or computer and has just recently been approved by the FDA.

The monitor will keep track of heart rates, physical activity, body positioning, and other misc events(sexual activity????) The data is then transmitted to your phone or computer. The sensor pictured above looks rather large… the only spot that I could think of where it could accurately get a reading without losing contact is in between your butt cheeks.

According to the manufacturer, the sensor “simply sticks to the skin of the user with an adhesive bandage”.

Bluetooth 4.0 Standard Has Been Finalized. Less Power, More Range, More $$$?

Is it just me or do people in the USA just not care about Bluetooth anymore? I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a bluetooth headset. If i need to transfer photos…i’ll use an MMS or email. Stereo bluetooth? Tried it……sounds like crap. Bluetooth remote controls? Tried them……unreliable.

Anyways… it seems like the Bluetooth guys aren’t giving up. The 4.0 revision of the wireless networking standard has been finalized and will offer low energy modes and higher range.

Standard bluetooth supported a 30ft range while the new big brother version of it supports over 200ft. Don’t expect any of this new BT 4.0 stuff to show up until next year. I’m not too excited.

OH SNAP! BS Is Back In Action

Sorry ladies and gents about the lack of posts. I’ve been doing a ton of academic writing and even more preparation for a very big event that will be coming up in my life very soon.

Now that things are starting to settle down, I’m going to be back in action serving up a buffet of tech/automotive/funny news! :)

Corsair Voyager Mini USB Flash Drives Are “Cute”

If you’re digging around for a small but robust USB drive, look no further than the Corsair Voyager Mini.  They’re available in all sizes between 4GB to 32GB and look like the traditional Voyagers except that they’re a whole lot smaller. These drives also ditch the end cap with a retractable connector which is a nice little touch.

Pricing starts at $15 for 4GB and $100 for the 32GB model.

Store & Load Game Files on Xbox 360 on A USB Stick

The Xbox 360 will officially have mass USB storage support on April 6 2010. What does this mean for us? It means that you’ll now be able to store and load game files from up to two 16GB flash drives! This makes console gaming so much more fun because you can easily carry your games with your wherever you go.  Naturally, the update isn’t just plug n play; you’ll need to enable the drives in the system settings.

If you’re a high roller and have something larger than 16GB, that is OK. It’ll still work, but the Xbox can only utilize 16GB.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470/480 Graphics Cards Break Cover

Word on the street is that the latest and greatest nVidia graphics cards will have a very limited availability. I’m pretty sure this is all hype, but if not… you might want to snag a few of them while you have the chance. Gamers tend to have loads of money to blow on the latest and greatest(even if they’re broke). Let the eBay games begin!

BTW, nVidia claims that the GTX480 is the fastest video card in the world with 480 processing cores, 1.5GB of video RAM and demands a minimum of 250W of power. If you’re worried about your electric bill, the GTX 470 will only drink about 215W. The cards will cost $350 and $500 respectively and they should be on the shelves starting April 12th.

NVIDIA 196.75 Driver Issues, Roll Back ASAP!

As many of you have already noticed, nVidia seems to have some issues with their latest WHQL drivers. The driver is interupting with the fan operation on certain cards which will eventually cause overheating. The questionable drivers have been pulled down and have provided instructions on how to perform a roll back to 196.21.

Power Strip With Foot Control!

Your power strip is most likely placed somewhere under your desk, which is generally out of reach. Should something happen, you’ll probably need to get down on your hands and knees to reset it. However, this nifty little surge from Woods Industry could be helpful. You can easily toggle the power for peripherals without having to deal with a pesky switch or risking accidentally shutting down your computer…..with your FOOT!

That’s right. If you want to stop power to a certain peripheral, you can do it very easily just by tapping the “foot pedal” on the strip. Nice :)
